I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who has occasionally questioned whether the work I’m doing in the world is meaningful, making a difference. And while I love marketing, my team and I aren’t actually creating technologies that empower access to clean water; we are merely sharing them, helping tell the stories. It’s not, like, chemical engineering or biomimetics, right?

But then we have a summer like 2024 and I know I’m exactly where I should be.

While I was disappointed to miss ACE in June, attending my middle child’s high school graduation was the easy choice this year. Turns out, I didn’t need to spend one second worrying about not being in Anaheim.  Bā was in excellent hands with the “ORIs”, Tori and Lorri, who managed 25 editorial meetings for our clients plus booth visits, support and networking! It’s been a gift, knowing that your team loves your clients and the industry as much as you do. Lesson learned: it’s good to let go.

In other team news this summer, I am delighted to announce the promotion of water veteran Sarah Courtright to VP integrated marketing and communications! She is an excellent fit to lead our team and expand our services to meet the needs of today’s water industry. Delivering results is at the heart of what we do and we equally value a workplace that will be inspiring, supportive and a great place to be. This organizational change will help us reach both goals.

Finally, a few dreams came to life for me this summer. First, we opened the doors of our new world headquarters in the Philly ‘burb of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. It’s a modest accommodation, shared with a couple of other small women-owned businesses, but it’s a quiet space without barking dogs and hungry kids and it has a gorgeous view of the local water tower. I mean, does it get better than this?

Oh wait, it actually does. The second and most significant dream come true is that earlier this summer my family and I went on a vacation to Europe. During a beautiful Santorini sunset, Hazel – my oldest – and Julio got engaged, the best surprise ever!

So this summer when our team is growing, my family is growing and our client portfolio is growing, I am filled with satisfaction and even a humble acceptance that I am exactly where I’m meant to be, doing what I love with people I admire, respect, and enjoy.

Wishing you the same,
